“… As seen on tv” Clever piece by Escif in Montreal


Escif just published a photo of his latest piece in Montreal through Instagram. The pic isn’t too good, but the concept is.
Titled “… As seen on tv” the new piece speaks in many ways of deception or self-deception.
The words “Liberté”, “Egalité” and “Fraternité”, watchwords of the French Revolution, can be read on three painted soup cans and reminds me a bit of Magritte’s “Ceci n’est pas une pipe.”. These words are just representations and like the advertised soup cans, they are not real as they are not present here and now… it’s just something you just see on tv… and sadly… he might be right…
